Raising Cane's Ohio - Our Story
In 2000, Tim McCarthy was a Junior in College and needed to pay for the last two years of school. Having run out of money from the loans and scholarships, he started looking for a way to pay. This he found through opening a Marketing Consulting Company called KT McCarthy, LTD. Opening this company, he and his dad presented to a few potential clients and landed their first consulting job with an 8 location chicken restaurant chain out of Baton Rouge, LA. It was Tim’s first interaction with Raising Cane’s, and was where he fell in love with the brand and where he met Todd Graves. After helping them, by consulting on their marketing plan, Tim paid for his final years of school and decided he wanted to be a part of the brand.
After working his way from Crew Member to Manager, Tim suspected that Raising Cane’s would be a hit back in Ohio. Returning to Ohio, he opened up the first franchise restaurant across from The Ohio State University in October 2004. The Students loved the chicken from day one.
After the opening, Tim was introduced to Roy Getz and the two hit it off from the start. Roy had been in the restaurant industry for many years and was impressed by Raising Cane’s and what Tim had started on High Street. Their conversations quickly turned to the future and in September 2005, they joined forces as business partners, working tirelessly to open 2 additional locations in just 12 months. They continue to build and grow restaurants in Ohio.
Our concept is simple and unique… we only have ONE LOVE – quality chicken finger meals! At Raising Cane's® you get an exceptionally high quality product served quickly and conveniently. We can do this because we offer a limited menu. The specialized systems developed by Raising Cane's® allow us to maintain a level of quality unmatched in the industry. Our commitment to this concept will not allow us to compromise our quality, cut corners or clutter our menu with new products that do not fit our core menu offering.
